Company's origins date back to the 1930s when the Cleaver family founded it.
In the early days, British Study Centres (BSC) concentrated on correspondence courses and as such was a precursor to the Open University who grew up in the 1960s. The Company overgrew, establishing offices and examination centres across the entire (then) British Empire and beyond and in the process becoming the UK's largest group of correspondence colleges.
Today, BSC specialises in the delivery of high-quality English language training to adults and young learners, teacher training courses for the UK and overseas teachers and University Pathway programmes.
BSC Edinburgh is in the heart of Edinburgh, in a stunning Georgian building on George Street, the most prestigious street in Edinburgh.
There are 12 classrooms (throughout three floors), all of them with interactive whiteboards, some of them have a stunning view of Edinburgh Castle.
The library is full of books and magazines waiting fo be borrowed by the students to improve their English. You can take them home or read them in the library along with a hot or cold drink.
There is also a well-equipped computer room, study centre and free Wi-Fi access throughout the building.
