To start the Russian Test, enter your name, email, contact telephone number with international code, and age.
The Russian test consists of several questions or texts with blank spaces. You mark the answer that you consider correct with the three or four options offered.
Do not use your dictionary, the internet, or ask a family member or friend, as the result would not be true and would work against you. This test is not an exam but rather simply to acquire knowledge of your current level of Russian.
Please answer only the questions you think you know. If you don't know the answer, don't guess!
The questions get harder as the test progresses, so don't worry if you can't complete it.
If you need to stop your test once it has started, don't worry when you return, you will continue where you left off.Once the Russian test is finished, we will send you the results obtained as well as the preliminary level determined by Learning Languages Abroad.
The result of the Russian Test is in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
A1 (elementary)
You are in the first stage of learning (basic user): you can recognise and read simple words and phrases and can introduce yourself and others. Can ask and answer questions about personal details (name, age, nationality, profession).
After some training, you will be able to understand and use more complex constructions and effectively interact in everyday life situations.
A1+ (elementary+)
Your level of knowledge is elementary. You can understand and use familiar everyday expressions and basic phrases to satisfy a concrete type's needs.
After some Russian classes, you will be able to interact with Russians in a simple way if the other person talks slowly and clearly, and communicate in the most typical social situations: ordering in a restaurant, making purchases, and asking for directions.
A2 (pre-intermediate)
You are able to understand and use sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of everyday speech (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, travelling, and employment).
After some training, you can understand yourself in predictable everyday situations, obtain simple information, and describe activities and plans.
A2+ (pre-intermediate+)
You can describe in simple terms your background, immediate environment and matters in everyday speech.
After some Russian classes, you will be able to participate in a conversation concerning personal interests, describe events and personal experiences, obtain specific information, and write short letters and notes.
B1 (lower-intermediate)
You are able to understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc., and deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the Russian language is spoken.
After some Russian classes, you will be able to maintain conversations on abstract topics, respond flexibly to different situations, and express feelings.
B1+ (intermediate)
You are able to describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes and ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.
After some Russian classes, you can join in a conversation unprepared, clearly formulate your thoughts to participate in a discussion concerning personal or general interests, and give detailed instructions.
If you would like to take the academic TRKI-1 exam, you should successfully pass to the next level (B2) first. Our estimate for achieving this goal is a minimum of 8 weeks of our standard group course or 5 weeks of individual tuition with 20 weekly lessons. You will also need at least one, maybe two, TRKI exam modules (5 individual lessons per module) to pass this exam. TRKI-1 allows you to study at a Russian university.
B2 (upper-intermediate)
You can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity as well as interact with native speakers, quite possibly without strain for either party.
After some Russian classes, you will be able to participate actively in longer discussions, describe problems in detail, react to the comments of others, and talk on the phone without difficulty.
In theory, you should be ready to take the academic TRKI-1 exam. We recommend an oral assessment for a more precise evaluation of your skills. We recommend booking one TRKI exam module (5 individual lessons) to pass this test successfully. TRKI-1 allows you to study at a Russian university.
B2+ (lower-advanced)
You are able to keep up with lively discussions among native speakers and interact spontaneously and comfortably. You find it easy to express yourself fluently and unprepared without much obvious searching for expressions.
After some Russian classes, you will be able to produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options, present and defend your point of view, and reliably pass on detailed information.
Upon completion of the B2+ level, you may challenge yourself with the academic TRKI-2 exam. Our estimate for achieving this goal: is a minimum of 7 weeks of our standard group course or 5 weeks of individual tuition with 20 weekly lessons. An effective exam preparation presumes additional one-to-one lessons.
The TRKI-2 exam is required to obtain Bachelors's and Masters's degrees in Russian higher educational institutions.
