DELF (Diplôme d'Etudes en Langue Française) are official degrees awarded by the French Ministry of Education to certify the student's different levels of French. There are French certificates are made of 4 independent levels of the European common framework, which are the A1, A2, B1 and B2.

French exam DELF B1

  • At this level, the student is expected to be independent, able to maintain a discussion by giving his or her opinion. Must be able to deal with everyday situations
  • The duration of the exam is 1 hour and 45 minutes.
  • The maximum score is 100
  • To pass, you must achieve a minimum of 50 points in total with a minimum of 5 points in each partial.

Parts of the DELF French examination B1.

Part 1 DELF B1 Listen

  • Duration: 25 minutes.
  • Score: 25% of the total.
  • Parts: consists of 3 or 4 short recordings of maximum 6 minutes.

Part 2 DELF B1 Reading

  • Duration: 35 minutes.
  • Score: 25% of the total.
  • Parts: consists of the understanding of 2 documents, one referring to a particular task and analyzing the content of a document of general interest.

Part 3 DELF B1 Writing

  • Duration: 45 minutes.
  • Score: 25% of the total.
  • Parts: consists of expressing opinions or general current topics in a letter or in an article.

Part 4 DELF B1 Oral

  • Duration: preparation of 15 minutes followed by 10 minutes.
  • Score: 25% of the total.
  • Parts: consists of 3 parts, a guided conversation, information exchange and role play
